January 4, 2007-August 15, 2021
I knew I'd be writing this sooner or later, but I didn't think it would be like this.
I met Chicken Solis at her breeder's house when she picked Liv to be her person in late February 2007. A year and a half previously, Liv and I had been hiking in Northern California and met a corgi puppy in the lobby of a hotel we were staying in. Liv was transfixed. She went back to San Francisco thinking about this short being with the big ears, and she put out an ad on Craigslist volunteering to walk corgis for free. A corgi puppy named Tango's owners took her up on the offer, and Liv got to know what being around a corgi was like. A few months later she was willing to take the plunge, and we found a breeder near the airport in Houston that had some puppies around the time Liv was coming home for a visit.
Liv went in with the vague idea that she wanted a boy, and there were two boys and a girl. But Chicken, diamond on her back and a heart on her butt, staked her claim on Liv and all decision making was taken out of Liv's hands. This would continue for the next 14 and a half years.( Collapse )
