Keeping up

I spent three hours at the gym this morning. I don't ordinarily do that, but I missed my Tuesday night spin class due to a conflict, and I wanted to get one in this week. So the 6:00 am class seemed like a good idea at the time. My ordinary workout is at 8:30. And it sort of seemed silly to go home after the spin class, so I stuck around for an hour and a half. The first hour, I strapped on my boxing wraps and spent most of the hour on the speed bags, with a couple of rounds on the heavy bags. After that, I hopped on the treadmill for 20 minutes. And afrer that Wooch had absolutely no mercy on me given my earlier activities of the morning.

People kept asking me if I was training for something or was doing a bootcamp or what was up. It was perplexing to some that I was there for so long. I just thought it was ridiculous to go to spin, stop for an hour and a half and then resume working out. I suppose I am just back in a sort of exercise phase, where I don't want to miss out on workouts.

In other news, the art car parade is this weekend, and this is the first time in seven parades that I have absolutely nothing to do with the event. From 2004 to 2008 I was a co chair of the VIPit party--which is a fundraising event within the parade. From 2007 to 2009, the Vroom Vroom Room was in the parade. This year, no one really had time or inclination to put the Vroom together, and I haven't really heard much from the organizers since they changed directors a few years back. We talked a little about it, and I think we're going to walk from our house to the parade route. We're about a mile away, and it's more or less a pleasant walk. We can even take beverages and chairs with us. Lord knows I've walked the entire parade route dozens of times when splitting time between the car and the party in the past.
