A dress

I ordered my wedding dress today!

How weird is that???

I'm terribly excited about it. I think it's going to be really pretty, and I'm looking forward to working with the designer to make it perfect. It's one of her more simple designs, though lord knows how simple it is to make. I have a few customizations (color choice, straps instead of halter), and I'm sure that I'll get a few communications from the designer to ensure we're both on the same page. The other brides on Offbeat Bride who have gotten dresses from her have reported that she's fantastic to work with, and I am hoping that I have a similar experience.

And her prices are ridiculously reasonable. I can't believe I'm going to get a bespoke dress for so little.

I also asked that the dressmaker keep and send any scraps of fabric from the dress so I can tie them into Celosa's fur for the wedding. Since Celosa is the main part of the wedding party, she should coordinate. I now worry that she'll upstage me.

In other news, I think my refinance has gone through. A new account showed up on my banking website today, though the old one is still there. I'll breathe a sigh of relief when I see that my tax bill has been paid. Otherwise, I have more than enough for a down payment for a car, which I'll probably buy next week. How exciting!

And I finally sent off the demand letter to the insurance company yesterday. I'd given it to a colleague in my office a few weeks ago. He has a lot of litigation experience, so I figured his eye was more used to these things than mine. He said he tried to edit it eight separate times, but he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I asked for much more than they offered, and I hope they're willing to meet me somewhere in the middle. I'd love for this thing to be over before the wedding. It'd take a lot of stress off.

Yay wedding dresses! And crossing my fingers that the other insurance company listens to reason. You need to be able to put this all behind you and get on with the rest of your living. :)

Between the shoes and the dress, it sounds like you are going to have a fun time, which is how it should be! I don't think Celosa will upstage you, no one upstages the Bride at her wedding. (That is at least what my Grandmother told me before mine at one point.)

Yea for the refinance going through! Mazel Tov!

I hope the insurance stuff gets settled ASAP.
