Back with music

I guess my vow to write here more often in 2010 was an utter and complete failure. I think January was my lowest post output month in the 8 years I've had this journal aside from a hiatus in 2006.

At any rate, I'm vowing to make a better effort at posting, even if it's not all that substantive.

I start by pointing out a new band that Graham discovered a few days ago. I can't stop listening to the few songs that they have up on Youtube. They're called Caravan Palace, and they're self-described as electro-swing. This is a playlist someone put together on Youtube. They're from France, and they're heavily influenced by Django Reinhart. I sort of think of them as to swing music what The Gotan Project (another French band I adore) is to Tango.

I keep hearing these guys and envisioning them in some camp at Burning Man. Rudimentary internet research indicates that they're going to the Bonnaroo Festival in June in Tennessee. I've always wanted to go to that particular festival, as it's a camping festival and has tended to be more collaborative than some of the others. I think that we'll probably seriously look into going.

I dare you to listen to this and not start tapping your feet.

Fun! I find myself singing The Triplets of Belleville in the back of my brain. (I do that sometimes. I blame one of my music theory/history profs).
Thanks for sharing this.
