A Letter to my Mama

Dear Mama,

I would like to give my support and endorsement to the Taos line of tee shirts--I believe purchased at Artemesia in August--recently sported by Papa. I will never forget the first time I saw one. I was sitting next to Claudia in 13 Celsius at one of Jose's going away parties. As one, we turned, saw Papa, saw his shirt, and dropped our jaws. His wolf shirt was one of the most awe inspiring garments that I had ever seen. I was anxious for him to move through the crowd so I could ask about it. I know that Claudia felt the exact same way. It was amazing. No one at that party came close to wearing anything drawing so much conversation. If you recall, Olivia and I were still talking about the shirt hours later when we left the bar.

The next time I saw one of the shirts, it was under a lab coat. I think it was the dream catcher, but it might have been one of the wolves. Papa had gone to the hospital wearing the shirt, clearly making any one of his patients feel better by just seeing it, and you and I picked him up to take him to Claudia's apartment to paint. I was so impressed with the look that I immediately texted my siblings about the look my father was sporting. They quickly admonished me for not taking photographs. I was very relieved when he changed into something else to paint. It would be a tragedy to get paint on that shirt.

It's not every article of clothing that inspires so much attention and conversation. It's not every model that can wear such clothing with confidence and aplomb. That Papa found these shirts, and that the shirts found Papa should be celebrated at every opportunity.

I was recently informed that Papa was given the impression that "his kids" don't like his shirts. This couldn't be further from the truth! We love the shirts. We look forward to seeing him wear them. We discuss them amongst ourselves in person and over the internet and over text. We're only surprised that it took him so long to find items of clothing that so perfectly reflected him.

In summary, I love the shirts, I've always loved the shirts, and I can't wait to see more of them. I can understand that to constantly be in the presence of such an awe-inspiring look can be overwhelming, but the shirts clearly do more good than harm. I am certain that similar letters from others will be forthcoming.

Love,

CFS
